Getting the heat right (without burning the fruit)
The trick with fruit is getting the moisture out fast without scorching the skin. We use short-wave infrared emitters because they actually sink deep into the pulp. If you use standard convection heat, you often get “case hardening”—where the outside turns into a hard shell and traps all the moisture inside. Not ideal. Depending on how fast your belt moves and how dense your fruit is, we tweak the voltage and length to hit the right heat levels. If you’re tight on space but need a massive hit of heat, we can crank up the wattage per centimeter. Just a heads-up: when you go that hot, you’ll need a solid PID controller to make sure you don’t accidentally turn your produce into charcoal.
No need to rewire your whole factory
We use industrial-grade quartz glass because it doesn’t crack when you cycle the power on and off rapidly. Plus, most of our builds use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re basically plug-and-play. You can swap them into your existing setup without having to tear apart your electrical cabinet or redesign your whole system. It just works.
The power trade-off
Here’s the catch: an infrared tunnel is incredibly fast—usually cutting your drying time by about 60% compared to hot air. But that speed comes with a hunger for power. You’ll want to double-check that your breakers and wiring can handle the peak amperage when a full bank of lamps kicks in. If your power grid is feeling a bit lean, don’t sweat it. We can set up a staggered firing sequence to balance the load so you don’t trip your breakers every time you hit the start button.
