The Battle with Thermal Expansion
Here’s the thing: a 3-meter quartz tube is a bit of a diva. When it heats up, it wants to bow and expand. If you pin it down too tight, it’ll snap right at the seal. To stop that from happening, we use high-density ceramic end caps. They give the lamp the backbone it needs to stay straight, but they’re designed to let the tube slide just a tiny bit as it expands. It’s all about giving the material some breathing room.
Dealing with Voltage Drop

If you aren’t careful, the ends of the lamp will be screaming hot while the center stays lukewarm. We don’t just plug and play. A Few Real-World Warnings
Now, full disclosure: these units put out a massive amount of heat, but they’re fragile. You can’t manhandle these like your smaller short-wave lamps. One clumsy move during installation and you’ve got a cracked quartz tube on your hands. Treat them with care. Also, keep an eye on your electrical panels. These units pull a lot of current.
